Following PT GNI, new nickel investors will build 26 nickel production lines
New investors will soon enter PT Stardust Estate Investment (SEI) nickel industrial park located in the North Morowali Regency in central Sulawesi, which will construct 26 nickel ore processing furnaces.
Yanto, the deputy on-site manager of PT SEI, stated in an interview with reporters on March 4, 2023 that the new investor's name is Nica Nickel Indonesia (NNI). If NNI starts operating, PT SEI's nickel industrial zone will already have two smelter investors, as PT Guncluster Nickel Industry (PT GNI) is currently operating and constructing 25 nickel processing furnaces.
In addition, SEI has a new investor who will enter, but will not engage in nickel processing, but will instead engage in port management (jetti), which led to SEI having three investors later.
Yanto did not specify the investment value of NNI, but as a reference, PT GNI, which currently has 25 smelting furnaces under construction, has allocated $3 billion or approximately 40 trillion dong of investment funds.
In terms of employment absorption, SEI is expected to have 60000 employees, and currently has approximately 11000 employees.
